Spring Meeting
“I’m expecting something this evening.” “Expecting what?” “To be murdered, Watson.”
— Sherlock Holmes in “The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone.”
And we hope that we can expect you at the spring meeting of The Amateur Mendicant Society of Detroit.
Sunday, May 23 at 1 p.m.
Grosse Pointe Hunt Club, 655 Cook Road, Grosse Pointe Woods
Off Mack Ave., between Moross & Vernier Roads)
Club phone: (313) 884-9090
Our assigned reading and brief Canonical discussion will concern “The Mazarin Stone,” an adventure involving a stolen Crown Jewel, a prizefighter and the diabolical Count Sylvius.
To further increase our understanding, Dr. David Mohan will reveal the deeper mysteries behind this, one of the most troubling tales in the Canon.
There will also be the usual toasts plus prizes, good fellowship and more. We look forward to seeing you on May 23. Libations begin at 12:45 p.m. with a tasty luncheon buffet dinner shortly after 1 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: Because this is a private club, the deadline for reserving your spot at the meeting is FRIDAY MAY 14. So please RSVP by then. Also please indicate your main course selection – chicken mushroom crepes, salmon or chicken piccata – with your check.
Respectfully submitted,
