Report from the 26th Dayton Symposium

Six Amateur Mendicants were among the crowd of 75+ attending the 26th Sherlock Holmes/ACD Symposium in Dayton, Ohio. This year's event was held the weekend of March 9-11, 2007 at the Holiday Inn in nearby Miamisburg.

The weekend began Friday night with a Reception hosted by the Agra Treasurers of Dayton. The main event Saturday featured ten excellent presentations along the theme of "Food & Drink in the Canon", and included presentations from by Bill Cochran, Steve Doyle, Cathy Gill, and others including our own Roy Pilot.

Roy Pilot entertained the crowd with his own presentation on Holmes' cocaine use - the seven (or was that ten?) percent solution.

Attendees also had plenty of opportunities on Saturday to part with their money at the many fine dealer tables.

Saturday evening featured a Cocktail Hour and delicious Buffet dinner, and ended with a delightful Readers' Theatre Presentation of "The Noble Bachelor"

Those who stayed through Sunday morning "Sprang Forward" with breakfast, coffee, and a challenging "Brain Buster" quiz - with many prizes rewarded to experts and novices alike.

It was a wonderful weekend enjoyed by all - especially enjoyed by those handsome Sherlockians pictured below:
